A Gold Gilted 2013..
In the coaching game, 2013 was to be one of the most successful years for the ladies team I coach in rugby. What made the year even more challenging than the year previous was the fact that we lost around 13 players from our regular squad. Most teams would struggle I think to repeat the feats that we had done other years. With already 7 Swedish gold championship medals in 7's and 15's, it felt like it was going to be a struggle to repeat the performance in 2013.
However, it was to be probably the most enjoyable season as the squad went above and beyond the call of duty and won not only the Swedish 15 a side championship for a third time in a row, but also the Swedish 7 a side championship , only letting in 2 tries throughout the entire season.
To add to this, the squad also won the Scandinavian Sevens which gave us the title of best 7's team in Scandinavia . The squad also won the indoor Håckes tournament for the second year in a row.
To end the year we headed down to play in Dubai International 7's in the International Invitation 7's group. We lost the plate final to end 6th out of 12 teams.
I'm not sure what to expect in 2014. With a bunch of brand new players last year we managed to perform really well despite losing the 13 players. This year we get back some of the players that declined last years season, we develop the new players from last year and pick up a few more names.
Should be interesting :)
